BRIDGE NO. 41C-0221 MADERA COUNTY, CA
Project Description
CCME was the prime consultant, and Ramon Montes De Oca is the Project Manager and Structural Lead on this $1.5 million bridge replacement project over the Chowchilla River at the border between Madera and Merced Counties. This project replaces an existing wooden bridge that was closed due to scour and later burned down. The new Road 5.5 bridge is a two-span, cast-in-place reinforced concrete slab bridge founded on CIDH piles. Originally, Madera County had planned to do source inspection with their own forces, but as construction started, it was revealed that this wasn’t going to be possible within the timeframe needed to avoid delaying the project. CCME, with authorization from Madera County, ended up performing the source inspection under its contract. We were able to do so and remain efficient enough that a change in contract cost was unnecessary. Additionally, CCME took a larger role in plant establishment due to the excess CM budget remaining after construction was complete.
