Jorgenson Road Over Outside Canal Bridge Replacement

MERCED COUNTY, CA

Project Description
The Jorgensen Road over Outside Canal Bridge Replacement project, located about 2 miles southwest of the City of Gustine, replaces an existing simple-span railroad boxcar bridge built in the early 1960s. The bridge carries Jorgensen Road between Schmidt Rd and Whitworth Rd over the Outside Canal and serves local agricultural traffic. The existing structure consists of a 39-ft span supported by reinforced concrete abutments on timber piles. The new bridge will include a 50-ft simple-span precast girder structure supported on reinforced concrete seat-type abutments with steel pipe piles. The project also includes roadway paving improvements and upgrades to nearby CCID facilities, such as access roads, meter structures, discharge pipes, and canal turnout and control boxes. Coordination with AT&T, PG&E, and CCID, including dewatering windows for canal work, is critical to project construction.

Services Provided
Services included but were not limited to; documentation of preconstruction conditions, weekly progress meetings and coordination, submittal management and review, RFI management, construction inspection, progress payment estimates, QA material testing oversight, and project close out including final acceptance.
