Project Description: The Resident Engineer reports directly to the Construction Manager, Vice President, and/or President. In this role, you will administer all project related items consistent with construction of Public Works projects. Typical duties include monitoring construction activities and confirming compliance with contract requirements; ensuring work quality and adherence to specifications; preparing and process change orders; reviewing contractor monthly pay applications; conducting audits to ensure compliance; preparing and maintains project records; and maintaining project communications and client contact.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the day-to-day construction services on transportation (bridge and roadway) projects
- Supervise project staff including but not limited to Assistant Resident Engineer, Inspectors, Office Engineer’s, and administration staff
- Be the main point of contact for clients and contractors while developing client relationships.
- Manage internal and project budgets
- Administer construction contracts including controlling quality, writing, and issuing field orders, CCOs, memos, and running weekly progress meetings.
- Work independently under broad, general supervision and in conjunction with the Design Project Manager
- Write and issue field orders, initiate change proposals for design team review and approval, estimate cost of changes, negotiate costs with contractors, and recommend acceptance to the Project Manager
- Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants
- Perform other duties as needed
- Must maintain PE license in good standing
- Must possess valid California driver’s license in good standing
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field and four years of experience in construction of transportation projects including a minimum of two years of experience in public agency projects preferred and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed. You must possess and maintain a valid Professional Engineering License in the state of employment. Additional qualifications may apply.
Pay: $156k-$200k/Yr.
