Gurr Rd and SR 140

MERCED COUNTY, CA

Project Description
The intersection improvement project at Gurr Rd and SR 140 enhanced safety and traffic flow by replacing a bridge over McSwain Lateral with a 72-inch pipe culvert and widening the intersection to accommodate school buses and fire engines. This improved driving conditions for the community. The project followed best construction management practices, staying on schedule and within budget despite challenges like heavy rainfall and unmarked communication lines. Safety protocols were prioritized, and ongoing communication with the community improved public perception. Environmental concerns from historic flooding were addressed, with long-term community benefits incorporated. Value engineering ensured cost and time efficiencies, meeting both immediate and long-term goals for the community and infrastructure.

Services Provided
Services included but were not limited to; documentation of preconstruction conditions, weekly progress meetings and coordination, submittal management and review, RFI management, construction inspection, progress payment estimates, QA material testing oversight.
