MADERA COUNTY, CA
Project Description
CCME served as the prime consultant on this $5 million bridge replacement project over Ash Slough, which addressed a scour-critical and structurally deficient structure. The existing 343-foot, 16-span continuous cast-in-place reinforced concrete slab bridge was replaced with a new 320-foot, 9-span cast-in-place box girder bridge, improving safety and accessibility for the local community. The new piers utilize wet-specification CIDH piles to prevent ground and perched water from entering the pile shafts during drilling and concrete placement. Despite a delayed start due to nesting birds on the existing bridge, CCME worked closely with the contractor and biologist to monitor the nests and minimize schedule impacts, ultimately helping to implement an alternative falsework system that saved the County money and preserved an entire construction season.
