MERCED COUNTY, CA
Project Description
The Quinley Avenue over Black Rascal Creek Bridge Replacement Project, located 8 miles west of the City of Merced, replaced an existing multi-span railroad boxcar bridge from the early 1960s and included relocation and construction of MID and private lateral facilities. The new bridge is a skewed three-span cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete slab supported by reinforced concrete bents on CIDH piles with seat-type abutments on spread footings. The project also included improvements to several MID and private facilities, including booster pumps, discharge pipes, spill and outlet structures, transition structures at multiple laterals, and inlet and gate structures for a private owner. Coordination with MID for in-channel work and dewatering windows due to local water demands was critical to project success.
